Topic : Word Problems
Word problems are usually made up of a few sentences describing a scenario that needs to be solved through maths.
Find two Consecutive numbers whose sum 75
Step 1 : Let the two consecutive numbers be x and x + 1 (Here, Consecutive numbers means one after other)
Step 2 : x+x+1 = 75 (Sum of two natural numbers is equal to 75)
Step 3 : 2x + 1 = 75 (Adding the like terms)
Step 4 : 2x = 75 -1 (Removing 1 from left side to right side, here +1 becomes -1)
Step 5 : 2x = 74 (ie., 75 – 1 = 74)
Step 6 : x = 74 /2 (Multiplication becomes division after the equal to sign)
Step 7 : x = 37 (In 74, 37 is two times)
Step 8 : Therefore x = 37
Step 9 : x + 1 = 37 + 1 = 38 (This is the consecutive number of x or 37)
Step 10 : The two consecutive numbers are 37 and 38
